Seeds Within Seeds...What Are You Sowing?

Protect The Seed

Have you ever noticed how we like to modify things? A tweak here, a color there. We mean well. Afterall, I love my labradoodle, a glorified “designer mutt.” He is the best of two breeds, right? At what point do we draw the line, though? It makes me think of the line from Jurassic Park that states, “Our scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."

As I study the parable of the sower and ponder the types of soil, I realize that we don’t often spend time cultivating the soil. What do we want instead? The seed that can grow along the roadside, in the rocky soil, and right along with the thorns! We refuse to do the basic work with the soil but will spend years tinkering with the seed. Wanting a “gmo-seed” that can adapt to all of the soil conditions so we can continue to stumble over the rocks and get pricked by the thorns doesn’t make much sense, does it? Yet, that seems to be what our culture gravitates toward.

I like easy answers, too. Don’t get me wrong. But we cannot compromise the Seed. Genesis is very clear that the fruit needs seed within it that can produce like kind. If we tinker with the seed, we have no future. Thoughts?
